Who Are Walkfree Kids?
Walkfree Kids are a group of orphans and vulnerable children in Masaka, Uganda, who found each other through music after a devastating COVID-19 lockdown. They are creative, determined, and love to learn—but they face multiple daily deprivations, including the risk of being sent home from school for unpaid fees.
Their foundation uses Drama, Music, Dance, and Storytelling not just as art, but as tools for healing, confidence, and girl empowerment.
Their mission is "to nurture a generation of empowered, responsible, and emotionally resilient children."
Since 2021, Walkfree has:
- Kept 36 children in school (primarily girls)
- Delivered 1,432 menstrual pads and conducted 21 Menstrual Hygiene Management sessions
- Saved 10 children from child marriage, and
- Cleared 22 medical bills
- Trained 8,000 girls through various programs
