Help Us Support Saurabh’s Journey To International Dance Training
Saurabh Yadav is a 26-year-old contemporary dancer, trainer, and movement educator from Mumbai. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a professional football player, but after being diagnosed as HIV positive, fear of stigma and discrimination made him step away from the sport he loved. His journey changed when he became associated with Happy Feet Home Foundation. Dance being a hobby, it slowly became his language of healing, confidence, and expression.
Over the years, Saurabh trained rigorously in contemporary dance, ballet, jazz, modern, yoga, and strength conditioning. He completed professional training at Shiamak Davar Institute, continued his learning at ICMD Mumbai, cleared RAD examinations with distinction and high merit, and even trained internationally in London.
But Saurabh’s journey is not only about personal success.
At Happy Feet Home, he works with children and young adults living with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, using movement as a tool for joy, care, confidence, and connection. He has also conducted sessions with shelter homes, NGOs, and community spaces, making dance more accessible to those who rarely get such opportunities.
Now, Saurabh has been selected for an 11-month professional contemporary dance training program at Imperfect Dancers Company in Pisa, Italy. This is a rare opportunity for him to train with international artists, strengthen his craft, and move closer to his dream of becoming an internationally trained contemporary dancer.
His long-term dream is to return to India and build an inclusive contemporary dance space in Mumbai — one where young people from marginalised and low-income backgrounds can access quality dance training without financial barriers.
The estimated expenses range between ₹22–26 lakhs, covering: Professional training fees + Visa and travel costs + Accommodation + Food + Local transport and daily living expenses + Essential artistic and performance-related costs
